NOTE: Distributor is a mechanism device inside the softener that stirs up the water during regeneration, an important part of the system.
Standard distributor (riser) found on most softeners
Standard distributors have one tube going down from the valve to the bottom of the tank. Conventional
riser system, an old technique in which water flows up through the resin
bed in the hope that some iron will be removed in the process. The bottom portion of the resin bed does most of the work.
Turbulator
Turbulator distributors have one tube going down from the valve to the
bottom of the tank, and another goes up from the bottom to 14"
below the tank neck. The Turbulator pulls resin from the bottom of the tank and
redistributes it to the top of the bed during backwash. So the bed is constantly turned over and reclassified. The result is resin
bed stay cleaner, last longer and fully efficient.
