Filtration Media: KDF and Chlorgon. KDF is a patented specialty medium used in most shower filters and in other water filtration venues. Chlorgon is a patented special filter medium unique to Sprite products.
The cartridge is reversible. It can be easily rotated to operate in either direction. Although rotating the cartridge is not necessary, and many users don’t bother, periodically reversing the cartridge backwashes the cartridge as it is filtering, ensures balanced filtration, reduces the likelihood of channeling, and should prolong the life of the cartridge. The manufacturer recommends monthly reversal of the cartridge. |

This Sprite Shower Filtration system has been tested and Certified by NSF International against NSF /ANSI Standard 177 for the reduction of free available chlorine. The concentration of free available chlorine in water entering the system was reduced to a concentration less than or equal to the permissible limit for water leaving the system, as specified in NSF/ANSI 177. This system has not been evaluated for free available chlorine reduction performance in the presence of chloramines. Free available chlorine reduction performance may be impacted by the presence of chloramines in the water supply. Please contact your local water utility to determine if chloramines are used in treating your water.
Chlorgon.
Chlorgon converts free-chlorine and some combined chlorines into harmless chloride. This is done using a chemical reaction known as "Reduction-Oxidation", often called Redox. Redox reactions transfer electrons between molecules of the filtration media and molecules found in the water. A molecule of free chlorine is transformed to a larger chloride, which is water soluble and unable to be absorbed through the skin. The Chlorgon Redox reaction occurs at a wide range of water temperatures, so it's an excellent complement to KDF-55, which works best at warmer temperatures. Sprite shower filters use both KDF-55 and Chlorgon filtration. This combination provides the most complete removal of combined chlorine and free chlorine at the widest range of shower temperatures. |
